When he was young, Francis had fun with his friends. After leaving the army, he was sick for a long time and prayed about what to do with his life. He discovered peace and joy with God and began to live a simple life, preaching about peace and forgiveness. He thanked God for creation and made a manger scene for Christmas that had real animals. People liked his simple life and his followers became a religious order called the Friars Minor.
